Healing Begins by Getting

Uncomfortable

Embrace Growth. Find Clarity. Reclaim Yourself.

Lauren Voorhees, MA, LPC, LAC, EMDR-trained

Mental Health, Trauma and Substance Abuse Counseling

Starting therapy often comes from a desire for change; the hope that life can feel lighter, relationships more fulfilling, and self-worth stronger. I offer a trauma-informed, compassionate space where your story is honored, your healing is supported, and your growth is possible. Using evidence-based approaches like EMDR, somatic practices, and attachment-focused work, we’ll explore what’s been weighing you down and build tools to move forward with confidence, clarity, and connection.

Trauma can deeply affect how you think, feel, and relate to the world around you. I use trauma-informed therapy that combines effective, evidence-based approaches to help you process your experiences, reclaim your sense of safety, and move forward with greater clarity and strength.

Narcissistic abuse can distort how you see yourself and your relationships. Criticism, manipulation, and gaslighting create self-doubt and exhaustion. Together, we’ll restore your confidence, strengthen boundaries, and reconnect you with your authentic self.

Substance use and addiction come with unique and complex challenges. I am here to support you with practical tools, compassionate guidance, and strategies that build resilience; so you can work toward lasting recovery and a more meaningful, healthy life.

Codependency often stems from deep-rooted patterns that can affect your sense of self and relationships. My approach focuses on helping you build boundaries, self-worth, and emotional independence. I want to help you reconnect with yourself and create healthier, more balanced connections.

The Willow

The downward motion of the willow tree branches reminds us to practice gentle introspection while honoring the inward experience of human emotion. The willow tree is considered a Tree of Remembrance, which emphasizes the powerful attribute of grief and it’s healing properties for both the individual and the collective. According to William Cullina, a plant curator, willow trees have been described as “the great healers of the land that lies bleeding and torn, scoured or burned.” The willow tree’s ability to grow and survive in some of the harshest conditions is a powerful symbol that we can emulate. This beautiful tree shows us how we can thrive even in the most challenging of conditions. Therefore, the teachings of the willow tree provide guidance on how to adjust to life’s pressures and challenges with flexible resilience.
